Textured Perspective
I have always been inspired by the geography and rolling landscapes. Growing up peeking out the airplane window to soak in the miles of colors and textures of patterned aerial landscapes. Shapes and textures that roll on for what seems like forever. Colors from every natural spectrum, patterns of depth, and colors. Numbers have always been part of the landscape since man has been involved in introducing latitude and longitude. Man numbers everything from the land, the rows, the food and the livestock. It is no longer about quality but about quantity. People in the city have forgotten about the miles of farmland that surround their cities, it is a foggy memory. Our lives are impacted by farmland on a daily basis by the foods we eat.
My lifelong challenge has been to see past that number, to look deeper into the foods we consume. The patterns and textures in this series are in reflection of that farmland I passionately love. The rolling hills of vegetables and fruits in deep colors inspire me, everything from the rich colors of a freshly dug potato patch to the ripe red skin of a tomato. The farmland itself is healing in all five senses; sight, sound, taste, touch, and smell.
I pray the food revolution is here to stay.
