Cyanotype Deep Blue Postcard using Cell Block Lego on found Antique Postcard

Cyanotypes are one of the first forms of sun-print photography and, in my opinion, the most magical. Each image carries deep Prussian variations of rich blues that dance and sway and swirl on paper masking the hidden intent of the chemicals involved. I wish they taught chemistry like this, I would have been hooked years ago. Cyanotypes use a solution of iron compounds that has not changed much over the last several years. Simple compounds react differently to different materials, papers and temperatures.

Winter 2021 was all about self-care and sharing the love.
I committed to making a postcard of some sort for The 100 Day project. This is a great way to stay motivated and create a daily habit while teaching during a pandemic. I was able to write, make or experiment with some sort of postcard everyday for 100 days.
this series of Cyanotype postcards represent the intentional act of taking care of one's self. Pausing to soak in the world around us!
