More about Anna Atkins: https://www.nhm.ac.uk/discover/anna-atkins-cyanotypes-the-first-book-of-photographs.html
Atkins's most significant contribution to photography was her use of cyanotype, a photographic printing process that produces a cyan-blue print. She used this process to create photograms of algae and other botanical specimens, producing a series of cyanotype photograms titled "Photographs of British Algae: Cyanotype Impressions." This work, published in 1843, is considered the first book to be illustrated with photographic images. It contained over 400 cyanotype images of algae specimens collected and arranged by Atkins herself.
