Arc of Appalachia Art Residency 2025

Wow, what an experience.

In October, I had a fantastic experience at an artist residency in the Arc of Appalachia, where I learned about the stunning trees in southern Ohio. This inspiring trip has led to new work in progress.

While there were some cold days, we also enjoyed plenty of sunshine, which allowed me to create even more cyanotypes.

The Arc of Appalachia features Barrett’s Millhouse, a beautifully remodeled lodge from the turn of the century. It was a privilege to stay there and fully immerse myself in the experience.

I spent several days outside, collecting all the leaves and sun I could. The nice thing about creating wet alternative cyanotypes is you can leave them outside for hours at a time. Chasing the sun.

Arc of Appalachia is truly a treasure I am proud to have in Ohio.

This land-preservation community - has worked hard to save the natural treasures of our nation’s Appalachian forest heartland in southern Ohio with recent expansion into West Virginia and Eastern Kentucky. Such a beautiful area!
